Good morning guyss
today i am going to talk about a very famous cyber attack that spread through emails in 2000. That it is I Love You it consists on a computer worm disguised as a romantic email and, when opened, infected systems. This attack caused significant damage worldwide and is considered one of the most significant in the history of cybersecurity.
That email had "I LOVE YOU" in the subject line and contained an attachment with a VBS extension which was a VBScript script.
How it function ? When people opened the attachement, the script would execute and infect the system, then spread to the infected user´s Outlook contact list. The infection could cause data loss, file corruption, system slowdowns, and, in some cases, loss of system functionality.
The virus is estimated to have infected approximately 50 million computers worldwide, causing economic losses of more than $10 billion. The origin of the virus's creator was identified as a Filipino student, Onel de Guzm谩n, who claimed he created it to test a new programming language and not for malicious purposes.
I hope you find this interestingg
